A few weeks before Christmas I sat down at the computer and started looking into live music. Going to see bands, or singer songwriters that I love is something that I want more of. I realized this last year when Austin got me tickets to see Ray Lamontagne for my birthday. It reminded me of how fun it is to share the experience of music with people you love.
I booked several sets of tickets for local shows, and last night four of us went to see Martin Sexton. Making a night of it with a dinner beforehand just added to the fun, and we thoroughly enjoyed the show. Its inspiring to witness something beautiful (music) with people you love being with. It really is a precious experience to share and I am so grateful for that.
Here are a few places you can look into if you are local and looking to add some live music to 2013:
The Narrows Center For the Arts ( Fall River Ma)
Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel (Providence RI)
Club Helsinki (Hudson NY- this may be a hike but it’s a great adventure, cool town, and great dining)
The Liberty Elm Diner (Providence RI)
Enjoy this video of Martin Sexton performing one of my favorites.
I bet you would love Joe Purdy, if you don’t already, check him out! He has so many amazing songs, and some of my favorites are: “come back down” “the city” and “the ah-la song”
Libby- I love Joe Purdy! Who else are you into? Have you listened to Matthew Ryan? James McMurtry? Richard Shindell? I’m going to see Richard next month! Thanks so much for commenting and I love meeting people who have like music interests. xo
